Sinduartola Gramodaya Vikas Vidyalaya (SGVV) was established in 1975 as a non-profit, non-political, secular voluntary organization to serve the poor community living in subhuman condition. The children of these communities were either engaged in rag picking or worked as bonded child labour. There was no concern for the education and well-being of the children with proper education. SGVV started with a small learning center for the children of the destitute community. Later, SGVV was registered as a legal entity under Society Registration Act 21-1860 in the year 1978. It also started working with marginalized people to improve their education quality, health care and income generation..

In the year 1998, SGVV established a field office in a village located in Rania Block. It started community development activities in the rural areas of Rania Block of Khunti district, Jharkhand. Subsequently SGVV focused its efforts primarily on agriculture and food security, inequities for people with disabilities, women`s empowerment, child trafficking, family counseling and education for girl child who discontinued education and dropped out and children who are out of school. It also started crèches for the small children of age 1-6 years and mainstreamed them to the formal education. NGO is also registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976 and so now SGVV has diversified its activities on several issues and is covering 8 districts of Jharkhand with the help of network Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. SGVV’s main concentrated work still focuses in Rania and Khunti Blocks of Khunti district as its main intervention area.
